The Akron Pops Orchestra is a full string orchestra currently comprised of approximately 50 dedicated, talented musicians who have a range of musical experience and expertise.  Each member volunteers his or her time and talent to play with the Pops.  The rewards we receive are the smiles, applause, joyful tears and many thanks from our many grateful listeners.

The former Musical Director of the Akron Pops Orchestra, Mr. Kristan Crane has decided to retire as Director after the long 2 1/2 years we were unable to meet due to the Covid-19 pandemic.  Mr. Michael Honnold (first trumpet in the Pops) will take over as interim Musical Director in September 2022 until a replacement Director is found.

Akron Pops Orchestra performs a wide variety of musical genres including:  light classical, show tunes, waltzes, marches. etc.

The Pops welcomes other talented musicians who are interested in sharing the gift of music to contact us for more information or to inquire about potential openings.  Rehearsals are now held on the first and third Thursdays from 6-7:30 p.m. with future performances still TBD.

At this time, the Pops would like to recruit talented musicians for the following instruments:  cello, oboe, French horn, trombone.
